SDG 1 – Indicator 1.4.1. Local start-up assistance
Provide assistance in the local community supporting the start-up of financially and socially sustainable businesses through relevant education or resources (e.g. mentorship programmes, training workshops, access to university facilities). The assistance provided by Universitas Sriwijaya to local MSMEs or local community activities is carried out through the Community Service program. This program is implemented as one of the obligations of the lecturers. Among the many activities, many are also linked to poverty-related issues. These programs directly impact communities and both small and large groups. The programs include training and mentorship that are continuous and sustainable.

Because Universitas Sriwijaya is deeply concerned about poverty at both local and national levels, it is committed to providing free training on Local Start-Up Financial Assistance as part of its community service or training programs. In some training sessions, Universitas Sriwijaya, through its programs, faculty, or students, not only provides training but also offers direct assistance.
SDG 1 – Indicator 1.4.2. Local start-up financial assistance
Provide financial assistance to the local community supporting the start-up of financially and socially sustainable businesses. Businesses that thrive around the Universitas Sriwijaya environment also become targets for community service programs conducted by lecturers, academic staff, and students of Universitas Sriwijaya. This financial assistance program is carried out by offering project development for programs or businesses already implemented by the community, enabling them to grow further, address poverty issues, and operate sustainably.

SDG 1 – Indicator 1.4.3. Programmes for services access
Organise training or programmes to improve access to basic services for all. Universitas Sriwijaya consistently strives to organize training or programs to improve access to basic services for all. This effort begins with developing a Research and Development Master Plan (Rencana Induk Pengembangan/RIP: Rencana Induk Pengembangan (RIP) Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat). The RIP includes a roadmap not only for 2023 but spans over five years, providing a clear plan for implementing programs in the form of training or activities based on basic services accessible to all groups to achieve sustainability.

Another step taken to alleviate poverty is participating in policy-making at the local, regional, national, and/or global levels to implement programs and policies aimed at ending poverty in all its dimensions.
