Supporting the Field Laboratory and Firdaus Park, PUPR Builds a Reservoir on the UNSRI Campus

To support the development of Sriwijaya University (UNSRI) as a Green, Agro, Edu and Tourism Campus towards a World Class University, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing built a reservoir in the Unsri Ogan Ilir Campus area, South Sumatra Province from 2018 to 2021.

Director of Irrigation and Swamps, Ismail Widadi, said that the reservoir in the UNSRI Campus area was built as a water resource conservation reservoir which will store water during the rainy season and be used during the dry season.

The construction of this reservoir can be used as a research site (field laboratory) for the UNSRI academic community as well as to maintain and preserve the ecosystem of various types of flora and fauna, including supporting the existence of Firdaus Park in UNSRI. In 2024, this reservoir will continue to be used as a water source for plants and ecosystems in the Indralaya campus environment.

From Garbage to Fertilizer, Tanjung Jati Village Converts Organic Waste into Environmentally Friendly Eco-Enzyme

Sriwijaya University hold training involving residents in Tanjung village. The training is in the form of managing organic waste into eco-enzymes. This training helps residents to be able to produce eco-enzymes which can accelerate plant growth and reduce chemical fertilizers so that the condition of the soil and land can be improved.

The waste in Tanjung village has the potential to damage the soil and land in that place so it is necessary to find ways to deal with it. This training can help Tanjung village communities to maintain and protect their land and can also develop the agricultural sector for the better. The training was attended by farmers, residents and UPJA members for free because it was funded by the Sriwijaya University Public Service Agency.
