SDG 10 – Indicator 10.3.1 Proportion of international students from developing countries
Figure 1 shows the statistics of students enrolled at Universitas Sriwijaya. The total number of students in 2023 was 35,463, including 32,254 Undergraduate students, 2,616 Master students, and 593 Doctoral students.
Proportion and Number of International Students from Developing Country
In 2023, there were a total of 17 foreign students. As compared to the total number of students enrolling in 2023 (Figure 1), the proportion of foreign students at Universitas Sriwijaya was still low, less than 1%. In order to boost the number of international students in the future, aid programs like scholarships, tuition fee waivers, and free on-campus housing are being prepared.
The distribution of students by country of origin and various academic programs is given in Tables 1 and 2, respectively.
Undergraduate students made up the majority of the international students (82.35%), with master’s students coming in second at 17.65%.
The nation of origin of Universitas Sriwijaya‘s international students is shown in Table 2. They are dominated by students from 2 countries, namely Malaysia (35.29%) and Sudan (29.42%).
When sorted by country of origin (developed and developing), around 90% of students come from developing countries (Figure 2) (SBR2024).
